The Emmy® awards were handed out last night. I didn’t watch them though so maybe some of the details of the stage, and the presenter are wrong. My fiance commandeered the T.V. so we watched a romantic comedy from the 90’s called ‘Only You’ which stared Marisa Tomei, who may look all cute and fun, until she smiles and it looks like someone dumped a drawer full of knives out.

I digress.

For the first time in almost 50 years, an animated program (Family Guy) was nominated for Outstanding Comedy, going head to head against live action shows, the last time this happened was in 1961 with The Flintstones. As impressive as that might be, The Simpson’s have never been nominated in this category.

The Simpson’s have been on the air for 20 years. How many shows have risen and fallen within that span? They must be doing something right.

If Family Guy did win, the strip would have played out with ‘Comic Book Guy’ stealing the mic from Seth Macfarlane (Kanye West style) and reluctantly admitting that The Simpson’s had one for the ‘Best Episodes Ever’. So imagine the alternate reality where this happened and enjoy that hypothetical strip if you didn’t enjoy this one.
