Mr. Bettany,

While I was at comic-con I saw the giant ad for legion that has you as an angel clutching a gun. That’s something you don’t see often, seems sort of controversial. Then I heard something about faith based groups excitedly anticipating the film.

More recently I read that you were playing Charles Darwin in a movie that might not get a US release. The reason for this is due to the results of a poll showing that only 39% of a surveyed group of Americans believe in evolution. I would like to apologize on behalf of America for this inability to separate empirical evidence from wild speculation.

You were quoted (as reliable as a quote from IMDB can be) as saying the following quote around the time of making The Da Vinci Code; “I’d love to make a movie that shakes the world and offends people”. I’m sorry that it had to be the Darwin movie, and not the ‘Angel with Sidearm’ movie.

I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed your performances in every movie I’ve seen you in. Given the opportunity I’m going to see both of these upcoming movies. Legion looks like it’s going to be an excellent fantastical action movie. Creation just appeals to me as I am an atheist.

So I ask you. Could you please point out this oddity when you are out along the press junkets?
